Tarballs were scattered along the shoreline and were imbedded in shells and buried in heaps of shells along the wrack line. Some oil was also discovered mid beach area too. A surprise, was where children had been digging holes. It appeared that there is still areas of contamination along in this area. The UV light will reveal Crude/Corexit mixture as an orange hue, the purple color is the sand. Having seen this stretch of beach in February 2011 when initial research was conducted using this form of technology, it's interesting that here we are 17 months later, and it appears that some areas continue to have oil covered sand grains still contaminating the beach area.
