Oil monitoring sweep along FL panhandle

Incident Report Description

During a 10 day sweep of the FL panhandle, oil, tarballs, tarpatties, oil covered debris, oil covered seashells, oily feet, oily crab holes and stained sand were found along 160 miles of beaches on the Gulf of Mexico.

Many officials have been stating that the oil is gone and the beaches are clean, however this is contrary to the reality at hand: BP's oil is still impacting the Florida panhandle. BP's oil is buried along the shoreline and let's not forget the impact this could have on turtle nesting and bird nesting taking place on these beautiful beaches too. It's much too early to tell the full impact of the DWH disaster, let's hope BP sticks around as promised.

Next step will be addressing the findings from that important July 12, 2011 scuba assessment that took place across the panhandle of Florida.
