I was on vacation from the 26th of May thru the 1st of June in Destin, Florida. We stayed at the Hilton Resort where the beach is pretty prestine. However, there was a lot of algae on the coast, and while swimming I happened to drink some of the water due to the high waves. Well, I have been to many other oceans around the world before but that water in Destin for sure tasted like some kinda of chemical was in it. Moreover, I had rashes on my skin when I came out of the water. And, to this day I still itch from those rash. Had anybody else experience the same thing? Thanks.

The algae you saw was simply sea-weed. The locals call it June grass. When you are looking for something 'wrong' you will always find it.

Here in Destin right now . No smell AT ALL. June grass is plentiful, however, but not stinky. Bittersweet just being here and knowing the nasty oil about to start washing up.
